Recently, Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry Yasutoshi Nishimura visited the UAE to establish the Japan-UAE Coordination scheme for Advanced Technology (JU-CAT), between the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) and the United Arab Emirates Ministry of Industry & Advanced Technology (MoIAT). As part of JU-CAT activities, Spiber, Tsubame BHB, Green Culture, and Green Earth Institute* – all of which are UMI investment target companies – also attended the visit, and introduced their respective businesses to investors, companies, and venture capital firms in the UAE.
JU-CAT is a bilateral collaboration scheme matching the UAE, where innovations and fostering young talent are important policy goals for future society, with Japanese startups striving to develop global business through innovative technologies. UMI serves as coordinator in Japan for JU-CAT and plays a role in clarifying investment needs in the UAE, seeking out promising Japanese startups that meet those needs, and introducing those startups to the UAE.
